A major process of any writer is the process of revision. Within writing, revisions allow an author to reevaluate their piece and promote the idea of making it better each time. In this particular post, I focused on revisions made on throughout my digital writing experience, focusing on feedback and critique I’ve gained through the course.
In the revision process, I started with the very first assignment, focusing on the internet and how it works. In the assignment, we were required to write three paragraphs about what the internet itself is and how to optimize one’s experiences and searches. This project acted as a set up for our next project of digital narratives. My revisions started as an addition of a different introductory paragraph. This provided a little more context to the specific assignment I was writing. I also edited some phrases and transitions in order for it flow better.
My second revision focused specifically on my digital narrative. In my first paragraph, I reworded my introduction that focused on what a digital narrative was. It allowed it to flow a little better through the second sentence, creating a more conversational tone. The first time I wrote it, I also didn’t do a great job of truly explaining what the narrative itself was. I added another sentence that provided a little more insight into what the digital narrative was, specifically saying “My digital narrative acted as a story, one where I was able to follow my journey through how I came into contact through all things digital, and where I was at now.” Later I just made a few more edits adding more words that allowed for better flow and the conversational tone.
I’ve always been a huge advocate for consistently revisiting a project, even after you might’ve done the bulk of the work. I’ve been working on multiple projects where you hit that ‘one spot’ and all creativity would stop flowing. For me personally, the best way to combat this is to revisit projects or pieces of work after a little bit of time. This allows for me to hit the reset button and get the creative juices flowing once again. The best way to do this is especially in the revision process, as it may allow for you to see things in other perspectives and add content that influences the piece positively.
